I am delighted to announce the official launch of my next book, which I co-authored with David E. Stanley, entitled “Conversations With the King: Journals of a Young Apprentice,” on May 15, 2012. “Conversations” reveals the extraordinary spiritual lessons that Elvis Presley, a private mystic and healer, imparted to his stepbrother David E. Stanley during the seventeen years Stanley served as Elvis’ young apprentice.
I am grateful that David asked me to co-author this groundbreaking book with him, because this was such an unlikely — and yet such a perfect — project for me to be involved with. [Interesting factoid: David Stanley didn’t ask me to co-author this book with him because of our name similarities, but the uncanny synchronicity didn’t hurt either. You see, my birth name is David Stanley Gruder!]
Conversations” provides new insights into the wisdom and gifts that Elvis never openly revealed to the public. It illuminates equally important lessons that Stanley learned from witnessing his stepbrother’s monumental struggle between his most authentic spiritual self, his private demons, and his feelings of imprisonment that resulted from his fame and public adulation.

The untold stories each chapter contains revolve around important life lessons that apply to all of us. The way we wrote the book encourages and assists readers in discovering the hidden lessons their own lives contain.
In David Stanley’s words, “This is the one Elvis story that hasn’t been written because I’m the only one who could tell it. Only now after the passage of time, do I have the depth of understanding to share the story in ways that I hope will be healing to many.”
About my co-authoring Conversations with him, he said, “You, my brother, are the architect of authenticity. It is your gift that made it possible to share my gift with the world.”
The May 15, 2012, book launch includes a LIVE interactive Twitter and Radio interview with authors David E. Stanley and Dr. David Gruder, at 4:00pm Pacific Daylight Time (or whatever the equivalent is in your time zone). Tune in directly at: www.blogtalkradio.com/epiphany-now-radio. More About “Conversations With the King” (from the back cover)
Closing the gap between the higher wisdom that comes through us and our everyday behavior is perhaps today’s biggest spiritual challenge. Elvis Presley was the first and most famous “canary in the coal mine” with this issue. Long before Michael Jackson, his legendary life and death warned the world about how important it is to deal with this challenge, with open eyes, heart and spirit. This new archetype of spiritual development that emerged during the 20th century may be Elvis’s biggest legacy of all; arguably greater than his enduring popularity as an entertainer. This may well be the secret key that unlocks the mystery of why his legend continues to endure so strongly all these decades after his death. David E. Stanley, along with psychologist and integrity expert Dr. David S. Gruder, illuminate these details in this profound and timely book chronicling Stanley’s seventeen-year spiritual journey with his stepbrother and mentor, Elvis Presley. “Conversations With the King: Journals of a Young Apprentice” reveals the Elvis that few knew and all can learn from – Elvis the mystic and healer.
