The Five Core Varieties of Personal Power & Leadership
There are five distinctly different varieties of personal power. They are the powers of Choicemaking, Doingness, Beingness, Stability, and Change. These forms of power are represented by the archetypes of the Sovereign (King/Queen), Warrior, Lover, Steward and Magician.
These five core archetypal energies of humanness are wired into each one of us. Each can be used for good or distorted in damaging ways. But, none of us can avoid expressing all of them in one form or another.
Some of us hide or abandon aspects of our personal power because we learned that being powerful is unsafe or unacceptable. Others of us overemphasize or indulge aspects of our personal power because we learned that being powerful in those ways kept us safe or got us something we wanted, even if at a price. Developing right relationship with our personal power is the hidden key to personal effectiveness, collaborative relationships, and healthy leadership.
How Well Do You Use Your Personal Power?
How many of these foundational forms of personal power are you familiar with? Which do you express effectively? Which do you view negatively? Which do you overuse? Which do you neglect?
The more passionate you are about striving for lifetime happiness, the more access you’ll need to all five varieties of personal power.
The more dedicated you are to leading in fully effective ways, the more you’ll need to know how and when to express the healthy versions of each of these five flavors of personal power and leadership.
The more you have to deal with “difficult people” in your personal or work life, the more important it is to get good at responding in ways that help shift these folks to the high side of the power dimension they are not in right relationship with. This skill is priceless, not only for leaders, executives, managers, supervisors and team members, but for helping professionals and performance coaches of all kinds.
A Truly Rare Opportunity
How would you like to learn this incredibly important, foundational and versatile set of power tools for expressing your full range of authenticity, connecting more effectively with others, and having a bigger and better impact on helping to make the world a better place?
You can learn all of this in my easy-to-use one-day experiential version of the semester-long graduate psychology courses I have taught on this topic. I’ll be giving this special course on Thursday June 2, 2011 as a pre-conference workshop for ACEP’s 13th annual international Energy Psychology Conference at the Hyatt Hotel in Reston, Virginia. ACEP’s website is www.EnergyPsych.org. (To view the workshop outline click HERE. To view the workshop’s prior ratings and comments I’ve received from prior archetypes workshops, click HERE.)
As valuable as this course is, I rarely teach it due to my time limitations. I frankly don’t know whether or when I’ll teach it live again in a public setting. This is your rare opportunity to gain access to, and rapidly create right relationship with, your five core archetypal life energies of personal power, and to also learn how to use Energy Psychology methods to turbo-charge this process.
This event is right around the corner. Don’t risk getting boxed out by limited seating. Register now! I look forward to seeing you there. ~ Dr. David Gruder
